Volunteering in Derby
From 1st April 2008 the Millenium Volunteers programme will cease to exist. The new national youth volunteering programme - vinvolved will come into force . Derby CVS has been successful in winning the contract to host a vinvolved team here in Derby.
Creating new opportunities
Help young people create their own exciting opportunities and
work with groups to develop their youth engagement.
Youth Action Team
A team of up to 20 young people to help steer all parts of the
new vprogramme.
Organisational development
Working within the IIV framework the vinvolved team will help
organisations attract more young volunteers.
Partnership working
To work with others on the broader issues of youth volunteering
in the city.
Training programme for organisations
Develop a more ongoing training package around youth
engagement.
Brokerage
Continue with the current service but look at extending the
service out into the community and train young people as
advisers to deliver the service.
Marketing and promotion
Greater media presence to raise the profile of youth
volunteering.
Evaluation and impact assessment
This will be conducted at the start, during and at the end of the
programme.
What is a vinvolved team?
This team is made up of two full time staff members - a Youth Volunteer Developmetn Manager (YVDM) and a Youth Volunteer Adviser(YVA). Their remit is to increase the number of youth volunteering oppurtunities across the city and inspire more young people to volunteer.
From 1st April , all our youth volunteers will be on our main database so that future support can be given by our Volunteer Advisers. You can contact these Advisers on 01332 342272, or in person , on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10.00am and 4.00 pm.
